Mr. Norlien takes inspiration for his paintings from his mid-western surroundings, and from his memories of being with his parents and grandparents enjoying nature, fishing, and being up at their lake cabin.

Complementing his detail, Mr. Norlien has become well known for  his use of hidden images within many of his paintings. He  believes these hidden images give families, adults and children  alike, something to enjoy together, as well as a conversation piece for guests
